Custom mosaics made in London and designed for you!
A quick hello this Tuesday morning. I wanted to share a recent mosaic commission I've completed for my London based client, Maltpress Trading in Crystal Palace.
This was a dream commission for me as it brought all the aspects I love about making mosaics together, the opportunity to get to know my client, and to design and fabricate something that will be much loved and enjoyed by the public for years to come.
Sally runs a fabolously quirky shop specialising in vintage and second hand pieces for the home. During our first discussion, the idea of a mosaic logo for her shop front footwell was the desired outcome. We were both very inspired by the victorian designs you find in the old seaside shop fronts around the UK so with that in mind, I spent some time designing classically inspired entryway mosaic options. I came up with some strong mosaic designs but somehow both Sally and I agreed, they weren't quite the right fit for Maltpress Trading.
We came together for another meeting so I could understand more about Sally, her business; how it had grown; what has made it a much loved local shop in Crystal Palace, and how Sally will continue to shape her business in the future. Taking this time to truly listen to my client is such an important part of the design process, afterall a mosaic is for life and it is a luxury product to commission so it's important to get this aspect right. By fully understanding Sally and her business we came up with the perfect design to celebrate Maltpress Trading, honouring all the things that make her shop a unique independent high street business.
We embraced the idea of the unswept floor mosaic, which has seen a recent rise in popularity, and I set about designing something that incorporated the business logo with a creative nod to all the wonderful objects you could find at Sally's shop. A unique bespoke mosaic for a very unique client.
So what do you think? Do you desire a mosaic for your business or personal space? Then let's start with a chat so I can get to know you and the things that are important to you or your business. Together we can create a custom mosaic that will bring lasting creativity and joy to your space and bring an eye catching creative edge to your business on the high street.
